According to the INSEE, The National Institute of Statistics and Economic women earn, on average, 19% less than men. For Cdiscount, the n°1 French e-commerce, who has been fighting for 18 years for the spending power of all, this income disparity shouldn’t exist. Indeed, for International Women’s Day on march 8th 2016, Cdiscount.com has decided to give them 19% more purchasing power.
To arouse interest throughout the day, the brand will settle this initiative on the website between 10 am and 8 pm. “Many brands are making promotional offers on Women’s Day. However it’s usually with a business purpose, says Georges Mohammed-Cherif, Founder and Executive Creative Director of Buzzman agency. Our idea was to give a meaning, and some intelligence to a special offer which becomes de facto a strong message.
We would be delighted to have other brands joining Cdiscount next year in order to set up a true awarness about this disparity, a kind of “Black Friday” for women.” This initiative including a film and some press will be announced on a full page of the daily newspaper Le Monde, and forwarded by AuFéminin and MyLittleParis.
